Imagine riding or driving through Baja California for 3-6 days along side an organized competition but without without any any of the pressure or added risks of racing. The creators of BAJA RALLY have partnered with RALLY COMP to introduce a brand new and safer way to experience the BAJA RALLY. It might be comparable to a high-end tour but with with the added security of a safety team and protocol that is normally out of reach for any commercial tour.
Adventure Sport GPS is a hybrid category of traditional off roading blended with a cross country rally-raid. We're giving you GPS tracks and a RALLY COMP. You can also use a paper or electronic roadbook if you want to. It's not "cheating" if you're not competing. You’ll be guided to a departure zone at 10AM everyday, well after the competitors have begun their day. You can keep to yourself or ride with your friends. Either way, you ride or drive or go as slow (or as fast) as you are comfortable with.
Don’t worry, our safety protocol using the RALLY COMP device and tracking system will keep you safe the entire time and help you avoid hazards along the way with an "open arrow and distance to” each of several dozen safety waypoints placed in strategic locations. You simply ride or drive at your own pace. As you approach potential hazards like ditches and big ruts, your RALLY COMP will give you an audible buzzer alert to slow you down. Once you clear the hazard area, you can get back to focusing on the trail in front of you. If you happen to get yourself more than a mile off-course, our safety staff will send you a text to your RALLY COMP via Iridium satellite.
Adventure Sport GPS was developed as a safe and simple gateway for UTV drivers and motorcycle riders to bridge the gap into roadbook rally navigation. Because this option gives you all of the safety of a legitimate competition with our Moto-Medics and sweep teams, it's a much safer way to participate in an off road rally-raid because you're not racing against anyone or the clock.
Frequently Asked Questions:
Will I have to complete the entire stage route each day?
No. It's optional.
Each stage of the BAJA RALLY is designed with specialized "bail-out" spot(s) that are manned by safety staff, allowing all participants to shorten their total distances
Why does the Adventure Sport GPS category start at 10:00AM everyday (ie: Late Start)?
Participants in the Adventure Sport GPS category are not racing or competing against the clock for trophies or prizes.
The competitive categories (Rally-Raid with road book navigation) begin their stages at 7:00AM.
Non-competitive participants in the Adventure Sports GPS category have a "Late Start" to keep them separated from (and behind) the competitive racers.
What if I crash or I’m slightly off course? How will the safety team locate me?
The BAJA RALLY Safety Team will receive an alert if your bike or vehicle comes to a sudden stop, is inverted or is stopped for a prolonged period. We can see your exact GPS coordinates as you are being tracked. The RALLY COMP device and platform is an extremely sophisticated system based off the Iridium Satellite Network. The organizer is constantly monitoring the whereabouts of every competitor and participant at intervals of 3-6 minutes. Competitors and the organizer exchange 2-way personal texts and customized messages whenever necessary.
